My first fully Manual digital camera - Fujifilm HS 30 EXR

Updated: Nov 9, 2024

So,

As I was saying in my first blog, it was late 2014 and I bought my new digital camera and it was the Fujifilm HS 30 EXR, a bridge superzoom camera.

At that moment I just started to learn different stuff about photography and when I selected this camera, my "best value" mindset helped me do it, because I looked for a camera that was versatile, would help me to learn, would have RAW image saving and manual settings.

But little did I know how manual could this bridge camera can be. It had manual aperture, manual focus, manual ISO, manual exposure time, manual zoom, manual everything and saving both Jpeg and RAW images at the same time.

From the beginning I started shooting in full Manual settings and I decided to never shoot in Auto or Priority modes. This helped me to learn a lot about ISO, aperture, sensor size limitations and so on.

And... the most important thing -> when shooting it is 90% about the Photographer and 10% about the camera.

I think I spoke a lot about the camera and didn't show you any images. Having this said I will show you some of my work with this great camera through the 6,5 years I have used it.

And these are some of the many photos I took during the years with my Fujifilm HS 30 EXR.

After learning so much with this camera I started to strongly need more performance so that I could go to the next level. So, I did the logical thing and wend ahead and upgraded.

The process of what to buy and what would be good for what I want was very difficult. I had some nice experiences with Canon and Nikon and started to make my research. D7100/D5100 or 80D or ... NOT.

In the end I ended up buying the ... (you will see in the next post) :)
